HAPPY WEEKEND - My Garden and a New Blog Feature

I don't know if any of you have noticed a new sidebar picture I have added: Gardens to Inspire. In Sacramento California, outdoor living is as much a part of our existence here as indoors. In the summer we get the Delta breezes that blow in and cool the evenings, and outdoor entertaining is common all summer. I don't know about you, but nature influences so much of the interior design that I do. Almost all of the homes and restaurants I work on have an indoor/outdoor flow that is very important to the design. I am going to try and post outdoor "rooms" on a regular basis and renew the sidebar picture at least weekly. I hope you let me know what you think of my idea and if you enjoy the images!

These are a couple of not very well done photos of the part of my own garden still intact during our remodel.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Katie,
I guess I didn't really realize you lived in Sacramento. Part of my childhood was spent in Red Bluff and we used to travel to Sacramento to shop. From Red Bluff we moved to Calistoga and for he most part lived there until moving to MI. There are times I really miss California - like when I try to grow Meyer lemons indoors so they don't freeze.
Have a good weekend too!

Hi Heather! I love Calistoga! My Aunt used to work at the Indian Hot Springs, so we would visit there often. My Mom lived in Healdsburg and Napa at the time.

We are lucky enough to have a neighbor who has a Meyer Lemon tree and half of it hangs into our yard! I bet you make wonderful things with them! :)

Katie - now that I home back on wireless and off the horrible Verizon broadband, I can enlarge the pictures and get a good look at them - your kitchen picture, for instance! Thanks for taking the time to answer my nosey questions in detail! I'm flattered. I can't wait to see the finished results. I'm totally jealous! Plus, I love the little stainless detail you are adding. btw, I remember that picture of the swimming pool! It's funny how images stick in my head and we don't even know it until we see it again and then we remember!

I find outdoor design even more interesting than indoor design in many ways. Living in Arizona, we also have a nearly year-round indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Okay, right now, it's mostly indoor, unless we're in the pool! :-) I love your idea of sharing outdoor design inspiration photos.

I think it's a fabulous idea! I have a degree in Landscape Architecture and have yet to find any really good landscape blogs - lord knows the TV shows about garden design are really awful, and there is a big hole in this part of the blogosphere.

BTW, if anyone knows of any good blogs dedicated to outdoor rooms, please pass them on!

Hello Becky-
As a matter of fact, I DO know of a great one! I have a link to Garden Rooms at right. Definitely check it out!
