Flower Power

Flowers really can change a person's mood, don't you think? Whether you buy them for yourself, grow them in your garden, or receive them as a gift, they never fail to lift one's spirits. When I saw the post on Habitually Chic's blog about flowering branches, I realized I needed to get out to my garden and cut some of the flowering quince before it was too late!

I just wanted to say THANKYOU to Habitually Chic for the motivation to gift myself with these beautiful branches. I had so much fun putting together a little tablescape. The coral blooms with the seashell pink and white coral are putting me in the mood for Spring.

And please don't miss HC's post. It's a natural mood enhancer!

Katie it looks soooo beautiful! I'm so glad you were inspired! I LOVE it! I wish mine looked that lush but I think that's what happens when you buy them in the city instead of cutting them from your own yard!

Katie- GORGEOUS!!! You've done a wonderful job here, and I agree with Anne. Look at Albert Hadley's vignettes on my site and compare his to yours- you're a master too!

What a fabulous job you did...beautiful! Isn't nature such a wonderful thing. I only wished I had branches as beautiful as those in my yard.

The whole tablescape is nice. I love the idea of an oversized mirror hanging below the table.

So so pretty! You are totally right, flowers can completely brighten my day. I had to head down to Flora Fresh yesterday and it was so icky out, but once I got there it was totally worth it. They had beautiful branches, but I didn't have room for them. Plus, yours totally beat any I saw there. I'll have to post some pics from yesterdays arrangements I did for a client- I went w/ corals/peach/yellows since it was so dreary out.

Katie, I always cut it and bring in in, but it's been gettting less and less every year. I need to plant some in a sunnier locale, I guess. I think it's beautiful. Great shot too!

I'm so sad I can't make the book signing! I have to be in Yountville Wed., and the bay area on Fri...so not sure I'm up for 3 trips that way in one week. :( Sad I'm missing out. Hopefully we can plan another meet up soon! I may need some of your design services in the future, how do I get in touch w/ you? I'm still admiring your flowering branches and the setting in general, they are just gorgeous.

katiedid said...

Hello Halcyon!
They are really nice to have aren't they? We have two areas where the previous owners planted them. I feel very lucky! We re going to start landscaping our yard this spring. It was really torn up during our remodel. I am looking forward to having a yard again!
