Thanks Home Depot

I know I said I was going to be out of touch for a few days....but I had to say a quick THANK YOU to Home Depot. I have been running around like a mad woman lately...(which I will be telling you all about soon....promise). I was at Home Depot yesterday....and yes....sort of dreading it cuz I needed a lot of stuff and...let's face it...my experiences with Big Box stores like this have not been great in the service department.

But I have to say....not only were there plenty of employees around, they actually approached me (yes...every one of them and I think there were a total of four) and asked if I needed help (which I did) AND, they ALL knew exactly where to guide me to find what I was looking for! Imagine! My mood just kept getting better and better. I went in with the thought that I would never find what I was looking for in this huge place, there would be no one to help me, and if I could find someone, they wouldn't know where to find it either. But I was so pleasantly surprised!

Then I found these lamps (which I wasn't even looking for) that were a great price ($57.95 I think) real glazed porcelain and perfect for my daughter's bedroom. (I have been looking for something affordable for awhile now). My grin turned into a big smile at that point.

So....THANK YOU HOME DEPOT! You have really turned it around. And whatever the reason is: recession , new management, middle of the day on a weekday....I don't care. Your employees were courteous and knowledgeable. Bravo!

OK...just had to say that.

AND ...thank you to the man who took my cart back to the store for me after I unloaded my loot, even though you didn't work for Home Depot. That was really the icing on the cake.

An avid reader here. I've been anxiously awaiting the photos of your daughters room since you first mentioned it a couple of months ago. Looking forward to seeing the rest!

Hello Elizgonz!
Thank you so much for reading! After finding these lamps...I am almost ready for those photos! I really will post the finished room very soon! Is is amazing how the cobbler's shoes phenomenon is at play at my house. So many projects....so little time!

Thank you so much for being so patient!

Amazing. They must have a better selection in California. I was just there and it was all brushed stainless and wrought iron monstrosities. I am off to search the website now!

I have noticed the same thing here as well .

Oh my I love those lamps. I've been searching for something like that for months now, but everything is too expensive and since I'm sans job I'm trying to stay on budget.

I just went on their site and I can't find them. I'm going to check my local Home Depot this weekend. I hope they have them in NY.

I was just there today and I can't say the lighting was great, I got a washer/dryer combo thing for my stepson and the appliance guy went above and beyond offering rebates and sales and HELP.

I've missed that.

Katie I think that lamp is a fab find - I love the shape and it looks lovely against your daughter's pink wall!! And that peek-a-boo look at the pillow sham has me looking to see more of her room!

Great lamps, great post. It is nice to give a shout out to stores that provide good products and good service!

So...now you need to pay it forward on the cart...onetime a very nice man took my cart back to the store for me, and when I thanked him he said his thanks would be if I paid it forward. I thought that was a great idea (although I must admit I don't think I have paid it forward yet).

Hello! I've been reading your blog for months (blog stalker, I know), but I love the lamps! Additionally, can you share where you found that fabulous fabric for the pillow on your daughter's bed???? It is unbelievable!

Katie,
Just a quick thank you. I love your blog, always a quick pick me up!

I wish I needed a lamp, I seem to have a collection of lamps in the garage that do not fit anywhere, but I can not part with any ( I think I have a thing for lamps, and maybe chairs and.......)
I am officially cut off per Tim.

Wow, love those lamps, and what a steal! Doesn't it look perfect in that picturesque image.

Hi all!
Wow - I feel really lucky to have found these! Home Depot had a coppery brown version too which had a brown shade, if I remember right. Maybe they are just in CA. I was definitely surprised to have found them....and I did get the last two besides the display model....perhaps they are no longer being offered?

The pillow fabric is "Cabriole" from Designer's Guild. Not inexpensive, but there are a few perks being in the biz...friendly sales reps give us poor designers a break sometimes! I anyone is interested in the fabric, email me and I will let you know pricing!

The room looks great. Can't wait to see more. Love your blog - especially the photos of your house.

Does the lamp have a name? I tried CT and no luck but I will try another store. They remind me of Jonathan Adler's Nelson which I've wanted for years. These however are within my budget.
