As I was Passing through Healdsburg on the way to Mendocino......

Myra Hoefer Design Storefront

.....Tim and I had to stop at the Myra Hoefer Design Showroom for a little look-see. Myra Hoefer is a doyen of the Sonoma County design community and, in my humble opinion, a master at combining the casual "California" style with chic French and hip modern. She brings her style to the international community as well, having designed a series of apartments in Paris. She even has an Atelier which is available for any of you traveling to Paris needing a place to stay. Can you imagine staying in a Myra Hoefer designed apartment in Paris?!? Heaven! More on that HERE.)

Front Window Display

Her showroom embodies her aesthetic, with objects and furniture from locals such as Paris, to Bay Area based Oly Studio, to modern classics by John Dickinson (wonderful article about Mr. Dickinson over at the Style Saloniste blog HERE).

You may remember Myra's beautiful contribution to the San Francisco Decorator Showcase I posted HERE.

Beautiful French Chairs and a Wade Hoefer Painting

Hop on over the the House Beautiful interview with Myra on their website HERE. There are more pictures of her showroom too.

THIS article in the San Francisco Chronicle is also worth a look.

The Showroom Main Floor

For those of you traveling to Northern California and the Wine Country, Healdsburg , a beautiful town in the heart of the Wine Country, is full of wonderful shops and restaurants. Stay for the day, or overnight at one of the many B&B's or Hotels. And don't forget to stop in and say "hi" to Myra!

Hi Katie. I love her tiny jewel of a shop. Have picked up very chic and affordable items there, whilst drooling over the Astier table and assorted French antiques. Did a post on her yellow taffeta curtained Paris apartment (Veranda mag. '06) in Sept. She has such a deft hand. That certain "je ne sais quoi"! Trish

So jealous, so, so jealous. One of my most favorite things to do is visit really great design shops when I am traveling. This one is amazing.

Hi Katie, I just did a post of Myra Hoefer and shopping in Healdsburg also. She was closed when we were there as it was New Year's Day. We have a home up there so we get to see her frequently. Don't you just love Wade's paintings? And I love the Anduze urns in front of her store. She won't sell them though! --Delores

This store looks wonderful. Love your beach pictures too - especially the one with the shadow.

Hi Katie-

Your post is wonderful.
Yes Myra Hoefer has a fantastic eye.
She is a truly talented designer.
ROUND TABLE: it's by designer Ron Mann.
The paintings are by WADE HOEFER
Many of the sculptures etc are by local artists.
Her aesthetic is consistent and always cohesive--with a great originality, texture, comfort and chic style.
cheers, Katie--happy 2010.

Thanks for sharing photos of the shop. I've been a fan of M.H. for some time, and dream of staying in one of her Paris apartments ...

I think you all are a little influenced by your own relationships, self importance, and the desire to make something so regular, well, unique. There is some talent here, and some design, but it is not the level to which you all proclaim. Go home. Please.

Dear Anon,
thanks for your comment. I do try to understand when someone has a diffrent opinion.
But let's look at this point by point.
1)Everyone is influenced by their own relationships, are they not? It is not clear what you men by this.
2) How do you throw in self importance here? I am not talking about myself, and I don't see any other commentors doing that either. It is about showing some appreciation for someone else's efforts.
3) I am not sure what world you live in. But Myra's design is not "regular". Have you watched the before pictures on HGTV lately? THAT, my friend, is how most of the world lives, and would be termed "regular".
4) Myra's talent lies in making environments pretty and comfortable. It may not be to your taste, but many appreciate her work, as do I. No one is proclaiming that you must agree.
5)Do you live in Healdsburg? I believe the economy there depends upon people like us, does it not? So by telling us to "go home", your lifestyle might not be quite so....., what do you call it? "Regular".
