Just think of all the princes that could materialize if you kissed these fellows.

Um....I find them a tad bit creepy.

That picture is so hilarious...I think its fun and whimsical. BUT not sure if I would tire (or get scared) of seeing a huge toad starting at my while I am taking a shower or bath...I have seen it all now in bath design:)
And as far as moods...feeling wiped, sick sick sick of this winter and ready for some sun and green grass and trees!

A little worried that the one on the ceiling would eventually fall on my head. One on the wall might be whimsical, four feel like a bit of an invasion. I must be in a critical mood because the snails in the hall grossed me out. Anyway, I did think overall it was a really strong Veranda issue.

gbf, thanks so much for the visit! So scary to almost lose your dog! WHen I was looking up "toads" online, info about these cane toads came up, and I do not envy you!

Hi everyone! I have to say....when I was flipping through the Veranda, I was excited to see another issue that is so interesting. I am a fan of the magazine, of course, but the last couple of issues have been great!

I am a huge admirer of Nancy Braithwaite's work, and I really like this house in general. I am also a fan of Robert Kuo. His metal work is fantastic. I am just not sure I could relax in that particular tub. But who knows....maybe the toads and I would eventually come to an understanding.

Katie,
This is so funny because I just saw these yesterday and thought 4 is too many and the one on the celing would make me crazy!!! One up the wall...sure why not it's her house and her idea of fun!But the snails? Nope.

I kind of liked them, but they overwhelm the space. I think their size makes them a little intimidating.

Um, no. Frogs are not my thing. Especially in my bathroom and particularly on my ceiling. Each to his own, I guess.

I have a thing for miniature frogs, have one on my keychain, but think I am bit overwhelmed. Possibly would like the two small ones on the floor. But then again, this is why I love what we all do and to see it another way with the frogs on the wall and ceiling is refreshing and stepping outside the safe zone.

EEW! I like my toads/frogs in the garden...definitely not in the bath...invasion of reptiles is not for me!

a strong design statement gone wrong!

I'm a big fan of whimsy and subversion, but honestly, these are a little much -- makes the space too top-heavy.

I have been following nancy Brathwaite's work for years, she always does something completely unexpected. I loved her bedroom where she painted the walls with large Dalmation spots. I love all of this quirkiness mixed with early American, old world colors and furniture choices. She makes me think.

Very sad about the doggies... not nice to have to worry so much but here in Canada most toads are harmless. I spent many a happy hour playing with them as a child but, alas, my mother would not allow them in the house so to make a long story short...I think they are GORGEOUS!!

weird, creepy & I'm not sure what else... not for me...

I think I probably wouldn't want to take a bath by myself with those toads looking down on me.....they look aggressive and a little uncomfortable with their choice of perch.

Even I would not do this.

Oh how fun. This why blogging is so much fun. Where in the world in my ordinary life, would I come across this photo? Not my cup of tea, but I do enjoy seeing what is in everyone else's cup!

I totally agree with you Katie. Although I am big fan of both I am not a fan of this. In theory it is interesting, but in reality a bit disturbing.

Cheers,

Absolutely fabulous to look at - not sure how I'd feel actually being in the space. So creative!

I can appreciate the humor of these frogs, but I can envision myself laying back in the tub of warm water and bubbles all around, eyes closed just letting my cares just melt away, when I open my eyes and GAAAAAAH! Oh yeah - I put those there on purpose!! LOL!!

Thanks for sharing!! ;-)

I like them for a guest bath. What I'm really loving is the terry chair. Where can I get that?
